The Brainstormer has three spinning wheels featuring plot/conflict, theme/setting and subject/location. Edit the wheels: tweak the built in lists or create entirely new scenarios from scratch.

Pros and cons of The Brainstormer app for iPhone and iPad

This app helped me get out of one hell of a writers block. Ive tried so many app and they just did virtually nothing for me. I was skeptical to buy it, as I was just reaching out into shadows before buying it, taking my last chance, but it is worth all that I paid (which isnt much now that I know how great it is!) and then some. I wish I could meet the creator of this app and shake his hand, for saving me.

Indispensable if you are an author, artist, songwriter, story-teller or dreamer... I fell in love with the first spin.

This is the best brainstorming app in the entire App Store!!! It has lots of subjects and categories for all your brainstorming needs!! The only thing it needs is an iPhone 5 support and an iOS 7 look. Please review to keep the updates rolling!!! Great app!!!

Once in a while a really great, fun, useful and completely amazing app comes along. The Brainstormer is exactly that and so much more. The free and extra spin wheels are amazing in themselves. But what really makes the app so much more powerful is the ability to edit wheels and even create new ones from scratch. I cant say enough good things about this app. I would give it 100 stars if I could. So I will just say thank you to its creators. You have given creative people a wonderful tool!

I love this! Ive been goofing around with it, and the surprising combinations are really fun to think about! Some have made me laugh with delight, some brought serious thoughts and memories to mind, others suggested quirky, funny ideas. Ill be relying on this when November rolls around, and National Novel Writing Month comes back to the top of the calendar!

I love this app! Im using it already to generate quick ideas for illustrations and short stories--not that I dont have my own ideas mind you, but some of these combos are lol funny. Its addictive to spin the wheel and feel my mind steretch and/or reel. customizable lists makes it well worth the two bucks.

Some bad moments

This would be an amazing app if you could import lists. But as it is you have to manually enter lists into the app which is more time consuming than its worth. Until they offer list importing or maybe some sort of list generator this app will remain useless.

I cant imagine actually using this app with its sound effects that cannot be turned off. Its supposed to be a tool not a game! Deleted.

I just bought this app and was extremely annoyed to find that so many of the generators are sold separately -- contrary to how they appear in the screenshot. Also, Ive not been able to find a way to turn off the sound effects. Ive even set my master iPad volume to zero and somehow Im still hearing the sound of the dice?! The gear icon is a bit misleading as it doesnt bring you to app settings, where I expected to change this, but to the additional generators. Otherwise the main generator is attractive and does what it says, but I really wish I hadnt paid $1.99 for just that. Perhaps its just me, but I expect the possibility of in-app purchases in a free app, not one that Ive already paid for. Im surprised the other all 5-star reviews, if not shills, havent mentioned this.

Luckily I got this free because I dont really know how to use it & you still have to buy stuff to REALLY get the full app. I hate that.

The app is a really good creative tool to connect randomly ideas and concepts. The in app purchase extra wheels are nice, but not needed if you can create your own. And creating your own wheels, is the crowning jewel, and the Achilles heel of this app. The problem is that you cant export your custom wheels. That means if you have to erase or change device you are out of luck. You will loose your work. It would be nice to share wheels with other users and since the app only offers two additional for sale, this is really discouraging for power users. Id be willing to pay for a pro edition that allows users to do this. Another flaw is, the only way to add a list to the wheels is by typing each and every single item, row by row. It would be nice to be able to import text files, as well to be able to edit, copy and paste multiple items at the same time. As it is is very frustrating that you cant easily correct the order of items on the lists.

This is money well wasted. The screen shots they show are not what you get.
